The 15th series of the beloved crime drama concluded on Friday (March 27), with a riveting episode in which lead detective DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) investigated after a body was found in the water.
As the episode kicked off, it was confirmed that it was the final instalment of the season and viewers were sad to hear the news, reports the Express.
Many shared posts on social media confessing they were “not ready” to bid farewell to life on Saint Marie, the fictional Caribbean island where the show is filmed.
“So excited for this episode, but gutted the current series is coming to an end,” one person posted on X as the episode commenced.
“How can it be the last Death in Paradise already?” another fan queried on the platform, formerly known as Twitter.
Another fan said they were “gutted” and posted a broken heart emoji, while someone else posted: “I really wish Death in Paradise was on every week.”
“Awww shame S15 is almost over, love this show,” one fan shared on Instagram. “Looking forward to this episode cannot believe the series has finished already,” echoed another.
“Boo we want more, one of the best series on BBC,” voiced another viewer, as someone else admitted: “Not ready for it to be the season finale yet.”
One viewer said it was “way way too soon” to say goodbye to the officers on the island, as another chimed in: “Can’t believe it! What an incredible season!”
“I can’t cope that it’s already the finale, it’s too good to end already,” another fan remarked.
Death in Paradise first aired in 2011, with its current 15th series kicking off in January.
It is expected to return for a 16th series, with Radio Times reporting that star Shaquille Ali-Yebuah confirmed filming was set to commence in Guadeloupe shortly.
The actor, who portrays Officer Sebastian Rose, stated: “Everything commences again. Back out to Guadeloupe, hurry up and get our tan back.”
Death in Paradise is broadcast on BBC One.
