Emmerdale has unveiled a major twist in the John Sugden m.u.r.d.e.r plot, following the demise of Nate Robinson last year.

As regular viewers of the ITV soap will be aware, former serviceman John (played by Oliver Farnworth) unintentionally k.i.l.l.e.d Nate (Jurell Carter) and hid his body in the lake. Upon discovering the body, the police promptly initiated a m.u.r.d.e.r investigation.

In an attempt to divert suspicion, John has framed Owen Michaels for the crime after the drug addict’s d.e.a.t.h. John fabricated a suicide note on Owen’s laptop that outlined the circumstances of Nate’s d.e.a.t.h, hoping it would bring the police probe to an end.

However, John, who is plagued by a hero complex, has been tormented by guilt over Nate’s d.e.a.t.h and has been expressing his feelings via phone calls and online to a mental health support network.

Elsewhere in the village, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has embarked on a new career path, moving away from his veterinary work, reports Belfast Live.

He has been grappling with low self-esteem ever since he was assaulted by a dog at Celia’s (Jaye Griffiths) farm. In hospital, Paddy was left heartbroken when his father Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) criticised him.

Bear Wolf made remarks about Paddy’s mental health, labelled him a ‘doormat’, and suggested people tread lightly around him due to fears he might contemplate suicide again.

On Wednesday (July 23), Paddy was somewhat evasive with his close friend Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and was reluctant to reveal his true plans for his afternoon off.

John was also grappling with his emotions as he visited Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) to offer some support following the d.e.a.t.h of his son Nate, but Cain appeared taken aback by his efforts.

Overwhelmed, John later sat down at his laptop, poured himself a glass of whisky, and logged onto the website for Guardians, a mental health charity.

Choosing to communicate via their messaging service this time, he hinted to the advisor that he’s done something terribly wrong.

The volunteer suggested switching to a phone call, but it was at this point the chat ended. Viewers then saw another laptop closing, with Paddy sat in front of it.

Paddy is incredibly close to uncovering the truth about John, but neither of them realise who they are talking to.

Is Paddy on the verge of revealing John as Nate’s k.i.l.l.e.r? Some Emmerdale fans are convinced the vet will unravel the m.u.r.d.e.r mystery in an unexpected twist.

One person posted on X: “Ahh paddy is going to be the one to catch John out. #Emmerdale.”
