Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise star Ben Miller will be returning to his role in Austin, where he plays Julian Hartswood, a beloved author whose career and reputation are ruined after accidentally retweeting a white supremacist.

His life takes a turn when Austin (played by Michael Theo), the neurodivergent son he never knew he had, appears. The announcement was made on Instagram alongside a picture of Ben and the cast of the ABC series.

The caption read, “A new season of Austin is on the way. Coming to ABC iview and ABC TV in 2026. Catch up on the first two seasons of Austin now on ABC iview.”

Fans rushed to the comment section to share their excitement over the show’s return, with one writing, “Cannot wait!!!! Great show. Amazing writing.”

Another said, “Love the show.”

A third added, “Congratulations, So EXCITED for Season 3.”

Someone else went on, “I cannot wait,” while another described Ben as their “favourite detective”.

Ben Miller is famous for his role on Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, where he played Detective Richard Poole.

However, his character was sadly killed off at the beginning of series three, and he was soon replaced by Kris Marshall, who played Humphrey Goodman. He also landed other roles, including in the ITV drama Professor T.

When speaking about his exit from the beloved BBC series, Ben revealed to Digital Spy: “Two weeks after I arrived in the Caribbean, Jessica found out that she was pregnant.

“I’ve just got divorced, and I’ve finally met somebody, and now I’m on the other side of the world, and we’re having a baby. That’s a proper curveball to be on the end of. So I knew what I had to do to get my wife back – quit Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise.”
