Emmerdale’s Sarah Sugden faces heartbreak in new trailer as fans ‘work out’ twist

Emmerdale has teased fans with a sneak peek of this week’s drama, focusing on Sarah Sugden’s heartbreaking health revelation.

Fans will remember that Sarah recently discovered she is in the early stages of cervical cancer, leaving her grandparents Cain and Charity Dingle deeply worried after only learning of the news last week.

In Monday’s episode, Jacob Gallagher, under the impression that Cain was already aware, mentioned Sarah’s IVF plans, leading to a heated exchange as Cain felt left out of his granddaughter’s life decisions.

Cain’s reaction, however, leaves Sarah questioning herself, with Jacob also having second thoughts about her baby plans.

As Sarah grapples with her mortality and doubts about becoming a mother, she’s taken aback when Jacob offers to be the sperm donor. Caught in a dilemma, Sarah must decide what to do…, reports Leicestershire Live.

Later at the hospital, Sarah appreciates Charity’s support but things take a turn for the worse when she insists on her grandmother fully backing her IVF plan before she goes in for her cancer operation.

Charity tries to reassure Sarah that she can still support her even if she disagrees with her decision, but ends up breaking Sarah’s heart just before she goes in for her surgery.

Later, Cain and Charity are on tenterhooks as they await their granddaughter’s return from surgery, with Cain doing his utmost to console a distraught Charity following her poorly timed argument with Sarah.

However, their anxiety reaches fever pitch when the surgeon informs them that Sarah’s operation hasn’t gone as expected….

In a sneak peek trailer of the forthcoming scenes, the video shows Cain confronting Jacob before Sarah is seen having a heated discussion with Cain about her decision.

The preview clip concludes on a heart-wrenching note as a doctor is seen telling Cain and Charity: “I’ve just come from Sarah’s surgery, things haven’t gone to plan….”

Responding to the video, fans were quick to share their predictions as one person said: “I reckon Sarah isn’t going to make it or she has had to have a hysterectomy”, a different account put: “I hope Sarah doesn’t d.i.e”, another commented: “No please don’t let her d.i.e I hope it’s not Sarah’s grave” while a different viewer added: “Sarah ends up d.e.a.d? Or in a coma.”

This comes as Sarah has been dealing with a string of health problems. In 2011, it was disclosed that she was suffering from a rare genetic disorder known as Fanconi anaemia and required a bone marrow transplant to save her life.

Regrettably, her health deteriorated rapidly when she developed leukaemia. A few years later, Sarah was diagnosed with throat cancer and had to undergo treatment.

Her health struggles didn’t stop there. In recent years, Sarah was diagnosed with heart failure due to severe rare side effects from her chemotherapy, necessitating a heart transplant.

Now, Sarah is battling the early stages of cervical cancer but with bad news hinted during the operation will she be okay…
