Emmerdale confirms Sarah and Jacob’s baby decision

Emmerdale spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (24 June), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Emmerdale has confirmed Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher’s decision about whether they should have a baby together.
Sarah has had a lot to think about this week, after Jacob accidentally told Cain about her IVF plans – assuming that he already knew.
Cain was furious with his granddaughter for moving forward with these plans while she has cancer, and this planted doubts in Sarah’s mind.
As her fears grew about having a child on her own with her life-limiting condition, Sarah was surprised by Jacob’s offer to be the sperm donor.
Jacob confirmed his offer in today’s episode, though Sarah didn’t know how the situation would work, as they aren’t a couple. Jacob insisted that he’d only be involved as much as she wants and that he’d be there to support her no matter what.
Sarah said that she needed time to think about what she wanted, although she realised that she needed to make a decision quickly.
Later, Kammy caught Sarah looking at a sperm donation clinic online, and he teased her about the qualities the father of her child should have.
Sarah told him about Jacob’s offer and Kammy was impressed by the way that his former love rival had stepped up to help – even admitting that Jacob was the best man for the job.
This helped Sarah to make her big decision, and she later checked with Jacob that he would be okay with not being equal parents to their theoretical child.
With Jacob confirming that this would be Sarah’s child, she agreed to him being the sperm donor and the pair happily looked forward to this big new challenge.
But will Sarah’s family be supportive of this decision?
Later this week, Sarah will face huge danger when she undergoes her life-saving cancer operation, and the surgeon tells Charity and Cain that things haven’t gone to plan.
