The drama is intensifying in Emmerdale, and it’s not looking good for one villager.
ITV soap viewers will know that Joe Tate (played by Ned Porteous) has been excited to marry the love of his life, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley), but there’s a twist. Dawn has been planning her escape from Joe after she was told that her husband-to-be attacked her ex, Billy (Jay Kontzle), at the depot.
However, it was later revealed that the culprit was actually Kev Barton (Chris Coghill). Billy has since learned the truth and subsequently confronted the scheming Miligans, but has yet to tell Dawn.
This means that Dawn has stopped at nothing to make her escape, even trapping Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in a barn so that she could drive away from Home Farm.
At the end of Monday’s (August 24) episode, which is now streaming on ITVX, Caleb Miligan (Will Ash) revealed his evil plan to Joe in The Woolpack, as Dawn drove away with Billy and their children. The rest of the villagers looked on in shock, as Joe finally learned the truth.

“You had it coming,” Caleb said to his nephew. “This is what I’ve waited so long for. Because there are some scores that’ll always need settling.”
He went on: “I can see your little brain there working a hundred miles an hour to try and figure out what it is that I’ve actually done. Well, let me tell you, what I’ve done is blow your entire world apart.”
While previous reports claimed that Olivia Bromley and Nick Miles, who play Dawn and Jimmy King, were leaving the Dales, it’s another villager that viewers are worried about this week.
A number of soap fans are convinced that it’s Billy who will face death in “one of the biggest weeks of the year” for Emmerdale.
“Jimmy and Dawn are [rumoured to be] leaving but which one of them is going to get killed later in the week, or is there a Billy death twist coming up?” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added: “They better not kill my Billy off,” while a third said: “Really feels like Billy may be on the way out… so many interactions with people he hasn’t seen in ages.”
A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “I’m going to predict that Billy will be a shock death and that Dawn’s exit isn’t actually for a while yet.” Someone else commented: “The calm before the storm for Dawn and Billy.”
Emmerdale fans will have to wait a little longer to find out whether Dawn and Billy return to the village, as the soap was pulled off air on Tuesday (August 25) in favour of live football coverage. To make up for the missed instalment, there will be an extra episode airing on Sunday night (August 30).
Audiences were quick to share their grievances about the schedule change, with one fuming fan writing: “Brilliant start to the week. Fuming the football tomorrow is halting the momentum of their big week.” Another added: “Ready for the big week. Shame it’s not on tomorrow because of b***** football.”
