Emmerdale fans think they know who DS Thea Ramsden ‘really is’ after she told Serena Sugden about her plan to take down Kim Tate, and she could be a past character
Fans think they know who DS Thea Ramsden really is on Emmerdale, and why she is out to get the Tates.
A chat with secret pal Serena Sugden confirmed on Monday that the pair are in cahoots, and are looking for dirt on the family. More than that, Thea made it clear she “finally” wanted to bring Kim down.
So Kim seems to be the prime target, but it’s the family as a whole she’s after – but why? That isn’t clear yet, but some fans think they noticed some clues in the episode.
We already know that Serena has been snooping around Home Farm, where the Tates live. We now know this was to find evidence or whatever Thea needs to take down Kim.

So this could be evidence of criminal activity given Serena and Thea work with the police, or they are helping someone else who is out to get the family. Some fans think Thea is hiding her identity though and that she’s actually a former character that we have already met.
When she met Joe Tate in the latest episode, before he even introduced himself she appeared to know who he was. Not only that, but she was glaring at him angrily and refused to shake his hand.
Pair this with the fact she’s admitted she is after the family for a mystery reason, and she’s targeting Home Farm, and it could suggest she knows things about the family. Some fans now believe that Thea is actually Jean Tate, the daughter of Zoe Tate.
Zoe is the daughter of Kim’s late husband Frank Tate, so is Thea actually Jean, and is she trying to reclaim Home Farm? The fact that Thea mentioned “finally” taking Kim down, could she be doing this on behalf of her ‘mother’, Zoe?

Could this also be why Thea looked so angrily at Joe, could she be his cousin? They did grow up together, but might he have failed to recognise her and Thea really is Jean?
Fans are convinced with one writing on social media: “So DS Ramsden is Jean Tate, no? Wanting revenge on Kim on behalf of her mum, Zoe?”
Another agreed: “I’m positive she’s Jean Tate,” as a third fan said: “I think it’s going to turn out to be Zoe’s daughter.” A fourth viewer theorised: “I was thinking could she be Jean using a different name but surely he’d recognise her?”
A further post read: “Is DS Ramsden Jean Tate? She wants revenge on Kim, immediately defended Joe and used his first name and their whole interaction was odd, felt pointed.
“Jean and Joe were raised together by Zoe for a time but as children, is it possible Joe does not quite recognise her?” A final comment read: “I’m thinking she’s Jean Tate. Would be ironic that both Tate cousins turned up in the village after years away under a pseudonym.”
