Sarah Abo Returns to Today With a Very Special Guest — as Another Big Moment Awaits
Sarah Abo has returned to the Today couch with four-week-old son Sonny, sharing an emotional glimpse into her first weeks of motherhood. Now, another major public appearance is already approaching as she prepares for the Logies.
Sarah Abo Returns to Today With a Very Special Guest — as Another Big Moment Awaits

Sarah Abo has made a heartwarming return to the Today couch, weeks after stepping away from the program to begin maternity leave — and this time, she arrived with a very special little guest.
The presenter appeared back in the studio with her four-week-old son, Sonny, giving viewers their first glimpse of the baby who has completely reshaped life for Abo and her husband, Cyrus Moran.
The couple, who have been together for more than a decade, welcomed Sonny in mid-July after Abo left Today earlier than expected ahead of his arrival.
Her return was only a brief visit rather than a full comeback to breakfast television, but it quickly became an emotional one as Abo spoke candidly about the first few weeks of motherhood and how dramatically her priorities have changed.
Sarah Opens Up About Life With Sonny
Holding Sonny in her arms as she caught up with colleagues Tom Steinfort, Sylvia Jeffreys and Jayne Azzopardi, Abo admitted she had become completely captivated by her little boy.
She described herself as “so obsessed” with her “darling boy” and said becoming a mother had brought about an almost immediate change in the way she viewed everything around her.
“I don’t care about anything else,” Abo said while explaining the shift in her priorities, adding that Sonny had quickly become the most important part of her life.
For the Today host, much of the joy has come from simply watching her son grow and change from one day to the next.
She said she finds herself constantly observing the little noises he makes and the expressions that appear on his face, with even the smallest changes becoming fascinating during these early weeks.
It is a very different rhythm from the fast-paced world of morning television, but Abo said the family is already beginning to settle into a routine.
Sonny has been feeding and sleeping well, giving his parents a chance to adjust to their new life together.
Years of Early Mornings Have Come in Handy
Abo also joked that her years of waking before dawn for breakfast television may have given her an unexpected advantage when it comes to caring for a newborn.
“This job does definitely prepare you,” she said, laughing about the comparison.
However, she quickly admitted that the tiredness that comes with presenting Today is still very different from the broken sleep that comes with having a young baby at home.
She said sleep has suddenly become something she appreciates much more, although the lack of it has done little to dampen her excitement about motherhood.
“You don’t get much of it when you have a little bubba, but it’s all worth it,” she said.
The comments offered viewers a glimpse into Abo’s new life away from the cameras, after years in which audiences have known her primarily as one of the familiar faces of Australian breakfast television.
Another Major Appearance Is Just Days Away

While Abo is continuing to enjoy what she described as her new-mum bubble, another important public moment is already approaching.
The presenter confirmed she is preparing to attend the Logies on August 16 — this time without Sonny beside her.
Abo joked that a “superhero effort” is unfolding behind the scenes to get her ready for the evening, with Melbourne designer Sonia Cappellazzo creating a gown for the occasion.
The night will also carry added significance professionally.
Today has been nominated for Best Current Affairs Program, while Abo herself is in the running for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter.
Speaking to her colleagues, Abo said she was looking forward to having the opportunity to attend the event alongside the rest of the team.
For the presenter, it will mark another notable appearance after several weeks spent largely away from television and focused on life at home with Sonny.
A Very Different Chapter for the Today Host
Abo’s visit to the Today set may have been brief, but it highlighted just how much has changed since viewers last regularly saw her on the couch.
The television studio and familiar colleagues were still there, but her focus has clearly shifted.
From talking about the tiny expressions Sonny makes to joking about sleepless nights, Abo appeared to be embracing the transition into motherhood while gradually reconnecting with the professional world she stepped away from only weeks ago.
And with the Logies now just days away, viewers will not have to wait long to see her step back into the spotlight once again — this time for a very different kind of milestone.
