Caleb Miligan may have a surprise sibling in Emmerdale. ITV soap fans will recall that Kev Barton (played by Chris Coghill) made his debut in the village last September, when he was unveiled as Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) estranged husband. It quickly emerged that Kev and Robert had got married in prison. The situation intensified when Kev turned up in the village attempting to win Robert back, which resulted in him taking his ex and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) hostage at The Mill with a samurai sword.

He subsequently departed the Dales, but has now returned in an effort to forge a relationship with his son, Lewis (Bradley Riches), though it hasn’t been straightforward. Circumstances will become even more complicated once Lewis discovers that his father was behind the assault on Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) at the depot, a truth that emerged during Tuesday’s (August 11) episode, reports the Daily Star.

During the instalment, which is available to stream now on ITVX, Caleb (Will Ash) disclosed that he intended to get revenge on Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) by framing him for Kev’s actions.

“Joe is everything that is wrong with the world. The system’s on his side. He’ll never get punished, he’ll just slip away like he always does. Not this time, because this time he loses,” Caleb said to his wife, Ruby (Beth Cordingly). Caleb then revealed that he was prepared to assist Billy and his ex, Dawn (Olivia Bromley), in fleeing Joe’s clutches with their children.

“We better make damn sure they can’t be found,” Ruby concluded.

As Kev attempts to conceal a massive secret from his son, he could be left reeling by a startling family revelation. Speaking to press at a recent Emmerdale event in Leeds, the actors behind Kev and Caleb, Chris Coghill and Will Ash, jokingly suggested that their characters could turn out to be brothers, having previously portrayed siblings on multiple occasions.

The pair share an extensive working history stretching back 25 years. Most notably, they played brothers in the 2006 one-off comedy Magnolia and in a 2016 episode of Moving On. But could this tradition extend to Emmerdale as well?

“It’s the fourth time we’ve worked together. I’m sick of the sight of him!” Chris joked, with Will adding: “We’re brothers.”

Will then noted: “We haven’t had that many scenes… because our kind of worlds are quite separate on the show, really.” Chris continued: “It’s nice to have done these little bits together, because it’s been 25 years. Yeah, so sweet, yeah.”

Reflecting on their recurring roles as brothers and whether this could eventually be mirrored in Emmerdale, Chris said: “You never know!” before Will joked: “I’m probably his son!” Chris then admitted: “I’d hate to be a Tate!”

Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
