Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), for some reason, feels as though she has to be in a relationship with someone in Emmerdale.

The character has been unlucky in love for what feels like forever. In the past few years there have been a number of men – Jamie Tate, Nicky Miligan, Vinny Dingle – who started relationships with Gabby, but all ended up breaking her heart in one way or another.

Recently, Gabby turned her attention to Ross Barton (Michael Parr). She believed he had a crush on her, but misread the signals and didn’t realise Ross actually fancied her stepmum Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).

Gabby was royally rejected by Ross and it hurt her pride a lot. She reached the conclusion that she absolutely didn’t need a man in her life, and threw herself into creating a new menu at The Hide by way of a distraction.

However, when Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) throws Gabby a few flirtatious remarks her way in upcoming episodes, those comments about her not needing a man fly out of the window.

Gabby and Billy soon decide to start seeing each other, which is a massive problem because Billy is Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) ex, who lives at Home Farm with Gabby.

In scenes that will air soon, Dawn’s worry about how her children will react to their dad’s new relationship causes her to tell Gabby and Billy that they should delay sharing the news with Clemmie, Lucas and Evan.

Gabby feels irritated, but is later hopeful that her connection with Billy might actually be genuine when he makes an effort to show his support against Laurel’s unhealthy menu at The Hide.

Later, Clemmie sees Gabby and Billy kiss, so she heads to ask Dawn what’s going on.

Young Clemmie is seemingly accepting of the relationship, but it’s clear at this point that Dawn is struggling.

As Dawn’s jealousy begins to bubble away, it’s set to have an impact on her relationship with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).

When Gabby shares her theory that Dawn still has feelings for Billy, Joe begins to wonder if she’s right.

With Dawn and Joe’s wedding looming, will it really be a success?
