EastEnders updates fans on missing character after Cindy announcement

EastEnders’ arch bitch, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) is on cloud nine.
While initially hesitant when her latest lover, Max Branning (Jake Wood) popped the all-important question and asked her to marry him, she eventually acquiesced and has been joyfully planning the mother of all weddings.
They’re hardly love’s young dream though, are they?
There’s the fact that most people would run a mile at the prospect of tying the knot with Mr Branning, whose most defining characteristic has always been his total inability to keep it in his pants.
There’s also Cindy’s deep suspicion that’s making the hair on the back of her neck stand up that there’s something illicit going on between Max and Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan-Levy).
Her suspicion which is bang on the money, mind you.
There’s also the fact that the proposal only came about due to Max’s anger at the rest of the Square actively mocking their relationship, due to Max’s previously stated penchant for infidelity and Cindy’s potent toxicity.
Not really the solid foundation for a marriage, is it?

While Max and Cindy have had mixed responses from their respective broods, we’d yet to hear the thoughts of Cindy’s missing daughter, Anna Knight (Molly Rainford), who left the Square last year alongside Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) to travel Australia.
Last week saw Cindy tell her son, Peter Beale (Thomas Law), that she expected Anna to return to the UK for the wedding, while in yesterday’s (July 6) episode of EastEnders, she admitted that she may have spoken a little too soon, as she hadn’t actually asked Anna if she would.
She went on to explain to her daughter – and Anna’s sister – Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) that she’d phoned Anna the night before and told her about the upcoming wedding, but she was a tad intoxicated and actually mocked her mum, using her past romantic history as ammunition.
She then produced a text message, in which Anna apologised for reacting so harshly, but standing on the fact that she wouldn’t be coming home for the event. Although Gina tried her best to soften the blow, it was clear that Cindy was pretty wounded.
Upon bowing out last year, Molly Rainford took to Instagram with a carousel of images, celebrating her tenure in Walford.
‘Your girl Anna Knight is off to Au,’ she began the caption.
‘I can’t put into words just how wonderful the last few years at [EastEnders] has been.
She went on to reflect on the numerous plot lines Anna had found herself embroiled in:

‘Anna’s laughed, cried, worked and lived in the Vic (still surreal), been in a love triangle, been spiked, got pregnant, had tough conversations about Race and her mum came back from the dead. No wonder she needs a break from Walford
She continued on to praise her co-stars, and those she’d worked closest with:
‘It really is a family, the cast and crew are truly special. I’m gonna miss working alongside them everyday.
‘Especially the lovely Knights, Beales and Peacock/Carters. Couldn’t have asked for better people to learn from and laugh with day in and day out.’

‘I want to thank everyone so much for all the love and support, it means the absolute world. I have so many lovely memories from Albert Square, here’s a handful of the highlights’
Is there any possibility we could ever see Anna again? Molly seemed to address that, too, with her closing statement:
‘And lets be honest, no one goes travelling forever. Love, Molly’
