Why isn’t Emmerdale on tonight and when is it back?

Emmerdale has experienced numerous schedule alterations of late owing to FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage.
The popular ITV soap usually broadcasts Monday to Friday at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm in an ITV soap power hour. Yet both Emmerdale and Coronation Street face further schedule disruption this week because of the football fixtures.
Emmerdale last broadcast on Thursday 25th June, when Lewis Barton remained held captive by enigmatic newcomer Kylie while Charity Dingle courageously revealed what she has been enduring privately over recent weeks in the village. Here we examine Emmerdale’s schedule going forward…

Unfortunately Emmerdale will not broadcast this evening, Monday 29 June, owing to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Brazil v Japan fixture, which takes place at Houston Stadium.
Coverage begins at 5:15pm and is scheduled to conclude at 8:35pm, when a repeat episode of Vera will then air.

In forthcoming scenes, Charity admits that Caitlin Todd was blackmailing her. DS Reid agrees to take a statement regarding the serious blackmail allegation but cautions that it will be handled separately from the sexual assault charge, leaving Charity dismayed that it may have all been for nothing.
Heartbroken, Charity regrets coming clean about the truth, fearing she has let down granddaughter Sarah Sugden and that Dr Todd will still evade a sexual assault charge. Meanwhile, Mack Boyd grows worried when Charity insists on putting on a brave face and attending Leyla’s christening despite her ongoing turmoil.
Later, at the christening after party, Mack is overwhelmed by the weight of secrecy and, feeling self-destructive, attempts to pick a fight with Kev Townsend. Kev refuses to rise to the bait but pushes Mack to account for his behaviour.
Mack catches himself off guard by blurting out that Charity has been unfaithful. Kev then urges Mack to get his revenge “in a clever way” on whoever has caused his family such pain.
Shortly after, Mack turns up at Dr Todd’s office in a Sheffield hospital, ready for a face-down.
However, Dr Todd flatly denies the allegations, insisting their encounter was consensual rather than assault, and attempts to win Mack over with persistent lies and a seemingly remorseful act.
Yet Mack silences Dr Todd, swearing to see her locked up for the rape of his wife. Dr Todd remains smugly composed when security arrives, to which Mack responds with a chilling final warning, vowing to kill Dr Todd should she ever lay a hand on Charity again. Shortly afterwards, police arrive to speak with Mack.

Meanwhile, Charity voices her doubts about securing justice for what Dr Todd did, but bolstered by Serena’s support, she becomes resolute in her determination to pursue the fight for justice. Elsewhere in the village, Sarah grows suspicious when Serena reveals she has knowledge of Robert’s murderous brother, John.
Nevertheless, Sarah learns that Serena has been sleeping in her car and offers her somewhere to stay for the evening. Meanwhile, Kev finds himself wondering where he recognises Serena from…
Also in Emmerdale, the ITV soap will leap forward to a crime scene, where a flash photograph is captured and we catch a brief glimpse of the victim’s identity…
