Iconic Emmerdale star drops f-bomb at the worst – or best – possible time

Emmerdale’s famously sharp-tongued Nicola King is known for not being careful with her words. And it seems she’s not the only one…
Actress Nicola Wheeler, who has portrayed the legendary Dales local since 2001, said a naughty word that wouldn’t go down well in the Woolpack while picking up a TRIC (Television and Radio Industries) award in London yesterday on behalf of the ITV soap.
The actress took to the stage in good spirits – quite literally, as she admitted to being ‘really drunk’. as she spoke on behalf of the ITV soap in a sweary, joke-filled tribute. What followed was a sweary but hilarious tribute from the soap star that would have made Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) blush.
Emmerdale won best soap, and Nicola was here to represent for her Dales family at the annual star-studded awards ceremony.
She began her speech: “Thank you so much to the TRIC Awards – and thank you so much to…
And it all went downhill from there!

‘I’m really drunk – I’m really sorry.’ the actress admitted.
‘I’ve been on this show for 26 years and they’ve never, ever asked me to say a speech – and the reason is because I’m the alcoholic on the show.’
‘I’m kidding! But I am the party girl.’
She continued: “I’ve had a wonderful, wonderful time. When I first joined Emmerdale, it was brilliant.
“I’d done loads of little bits of drama and I joined Emmerdale and I went, ‘Oh, it’s a tight schedule’, and then I went, ‘Oh, it’s an even f***ing tighter budget’.
“But that’s a joke. I want to introduce you to Lisa Riley MBE.’
She turned, introducing the iconic actress who plays the indispensable Mandy Dingle.

Nicola continued: “I’ve had a wonderful, wonderful time. When I first joined Emmerdale, it was brilliant.’
“But you know what, we appreciate what you do and we respect what you do and I hope your programmes carry on for a long, long time. Thank you.”
The shocked audience were in hysterics as they watched Nicola give her loving – if slightly sweary – speech.
Nicola wasn’t the only Emmerdale star to bag an award that night.
In addition to being named Soap of the Year, Jeff Hordley was deemed Best Soap Actor by the TRIC board, due to his stellar performance as Cain Dingle in his recent heartbreaking cancer story.
As for Nicola, she’s got plenty of drama coming up too.
The no-nonsense Queen of Emmerdale’s cafe is about to develop a surprising connection with man-bunned menace Kev Townsend (ChrisCoghill) over his long lost son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches).

Not only that but it’s looking increasingly likely that poor Nicola is about to lose her husband Jimmy King (Nick Miles) in a tragic accident.
Whatever happens, we can be assured that Nicola King will go into the future with her head held high… and clean language!
