EastEnders fans were left scratching their heads on Thursday (June 4) after Alfie Moon (portrayed by Shane Richie) seemed to have inadvertently poisoned half of Albert Square.

Dubbed the ‘Night that Changes Everything’, there was a lot of drama this week on the BBC soap as all episodes unfolded on the same night as Vicki’s (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall’s (Alex Walkinshaw) wedding reception, with the festivities continuing despite the revelation of the bride’s affair with Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

During the celebration, Queen Vic landlords Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie were aghast when they began to suspect they might have unintentionally poisoned the wedding guests. Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) appeared to be their first victim as he was left retching and looking decidedly unwell.

“You know what he’s been eating, don’t you, those prawns?” she told husband Alfie, suggesting that Harvey may have food poisoning. Harvey was seen looking distinctly ill, holding his fists over his mouth.

Vicki also had to cut her evening short after feeling sick and dashing for the loo while wearing her pristine white wedding dress, reports OK!.

On Thursday, Alfie tried to convince Kat that they weren’t to blame for making people sick and ate one of his prawn dishes to prove his point – a decision he quickly regretted.

Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) attempted to eat the prawns, sending Kat into a panic, and fearing the catastrophe could completely tarnish their reputation.

Later, Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace) also took a turn for the worse and was left dashing to the loo.

One viewer posted on X: “Vomiting doesn’t usually make me laugh. But these wedding guests puking left, right and centre and having to run for the loo has got me giggling like the old Carry On film style.”

A second declared: “Everyone in the pub is absolutely floored by food poisoning (laughing face)”, while a third added: “Only Kat and Alfie would give the guests food poisoning (crying face)”.

“Can’t believe they are doing a mass food poisoning storyline,” one fan expressed, while another voiced their disbelief: “Not Alfie giving food poisoning to everyone at the wedding (laughing face).”

“I’m actually howling at most of the square vomiting because of Alfie’s dodgy prawns,” another admitted.
