Emmmerdale Vinny Dingle actor ‘in complete shock’ as he addresses future after six years
Bradley Johnson, who has played Vinny Dingle in ITV soap opera Emmerdale since 2019, has opened up about his "shocking" and "exciting" latest storyline

Emmerdale actor Bradley Johnson has revealed he was left in “complete shock” when he learned about his latest storyline as fan favourite Vinny Dingle.
The soap star has been playing the popular character since 2019 and he’s been at the centre of some gripping plots including finding out Mandy Dingle (Lisa Dingle) wasn’t his real mum.
As Vinny’s wedding to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) gets ever closer, he continues to struggle with uncertainty after developing an attraction to his new friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah).
He leant in to kiss his pal some weeks ago and he’s since stepped up his wedding with Gabby in a bid to convince himself that he’s straight.

Speaking about his latest storyline, Bradley told press: “When I first got told it was a complete shock to me as I had no idea that was the avenue they were going to go down with Vinny.
“I didn’t have clue it was going to be a big as what it’s going to be but it’s a story I’m excited to tell and I think it’s going to be shocking and emotional for the audience to watch.
“We got some really exciting stuff coming up. There is a lot more to come with Vinny finding who he is as a person and it’s really exciting.”

Taking his first steps, Vinny begins surfing the internet for answers about his s.e.x.u.a.l.i.t.y and ends up speaking to mysterious newcomer ‘Mike’ (Maculay Cooper).
The pair meet up and their bond grows stronger. When Mike asks Vinny if he’s gay, Vinny’s confusion about defining his s.e.x.u.a.l.i.t.y is clear, but he’s grateful and comforted as Mike’s support will help him understand it.
Mike later shows up at Vinny’s and reveals his partner has kicked him out. Mike hints at an attraction between them, but despite Vinny’s denial, he is left terrified after ‘Mike’ suddenly turns on him.
Opening up about filming the upcoming dramatic scenes, Bradley added: “It was really hard. I’ve been playing Vinny for the past six years and he’s been through a lot.

“As soon as you think he’s building himself back up to this confident character, someone comes and just knocks him straight back down.”
With Gabby thinking she’s left her phone at home, will she save her husband to be from the bands of dodgy Mike?
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
