Death in Paradise: This iconic actor recounts the unusual accident that caused him to panic during filming

Did you know that the star of Death in Paradise experienced a painful mishap on set? We’ll tell you all about it!

The broadcast of season 15 of Death in Paradise continues on France 2! And the least we can say is that the adventures of Inspector Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) and Agent Sebastian Rose continue to captivate viewers who flock to their screens every Sunday evening.

But did you know that Shaquille Ali Yebuah injured himself during the filming of season 15 and that it could have ended very badly? During his appearance on the British show BBC Morning Live, the actor revealed the mishap that happened to him while he was taking a shower:

“In Guadeloupe, there are centipedes, they’re like giant venomous millipedes. People can die after one of their bites or suffer shock and end up in the hospital,” he confides before adding:

“I was getting ready to go to the wrap party. I was in the shower listening to jazz and having the time of my life. And then, I felt like a sharp knife had been stabbed, like I’d been cut. I looked down: there was a huge centipede on my leg.”

“It was almost the end of my lineage.”

“I don’t know how I didn’t sense her climbing before! If she had kept climbing, who knows where she would have gone? It was almost the end of my bloodline ,” the actor exclaimed. Fortunately, he quickly regained his composure.

“I swatted it away with one swipe of my hand and obviously, I tried to crush it with my foot — but you can’t do that because they survive everything. You have to cut them in half with scissors. But even then, they’re still moving.  I jumped out of the shower, covered in soap, looking for scissors. (…)”

“It was extremely painful”

“And apparently, you have to pour rum on the wound to make it go down. Because I wrote directly to the Death in Paradise WhatsApp group: ‘Guys, they got me! What do I do?’ They replied: ‘Yeah, pour rum on it and it will eventually go away.’ But it was super painful!”,  concludes Shaquille Ali Yebuah.

Fortunately, all of this did not impact the filming of season 15 of Death in Paradise, which you can watch every Sunday evening on France 2.
