Emmerdale trailer confirms sad surgery outcome for Sarah as things ‘don’t go to plan’

A new Emmerdale trailer has been revealed that teases an upsetting outcome of Sarah Sugden’s (Katie Hill) cancer surgery.

The young woman was diagnosed with cervical cancer shortly after she started the IVF process, hoping to fulfil her dream of becoming a mum.

Sarah chose to keep this news a secret from everyone for a while, but friend Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) then discovered her diagnosis, and her plan to have a baby.

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), Sarah’s gran, only learnt about her cancer a few days ago. She had answered a phone call from the hospital on Sarah’s phone, which confirmed the illness.

Sarah told Charity that she kept it a secret because her family learnt about Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) murder not long after. As someone who was very poorly as a child, Sarah felt that she could face the upcoming operation alone and didn’t need her family’s support.

Support is exactly what Sarah will need in upcoming episodes though, should she even survive the surgery.

A new trailer has shown clips from tonight’s episode, which will see Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) learn about Sarah’s IVF, days after discovering her cancer news.

It also hints at the drama before Sarah’s surgery, which will see her clash with Charity when they discuss her plan.

Just before the trailer ends, a surgeon arrives to see Charity and Cain and confirms that ‘things haven’t gone to plan’ in theatre.

But if Sarah has survived this, what complication has developed that’s left her grandparents so worried?
