Major plans for Emmerdale’s future
Emmerdale fans will be delighted to know of plans submitted regarding the future of the legendary ITV soap.
Two planning applications are in the process of being submitted by ITV. One to continue its production in its purpose-built village Yorkshire setting and the other to continue visitor tours on-site.
Notices have gone up around the surrounding area to inform residents. While further information is available through Lambert Simpson Hampton.
It states: “Popular continuing drama Emmerdale is filmed at the Emmerdale village production set, Harewood Estate and Kirkstall Road Studios, Leeds. The Emmerdale village production set is located on land at the Harewood Estate, south of Weardley, Leeds.
“The original purpose-built set has been in-situ since 1997 and has developed over the last 30-years of operation. The set has temporary planning consent, time limited to June 3, 2027. ITV Studios Ltd are currently preparing two planning applications for the continued use of the Emmerdale production set and visitor tour operations at the existing site. Lambert Smith Hampton are appointed as planning agents for both planning applications.”
The applications are anticipated to be submitted to Leeds City Council this summer. Public consultations will take place regarding the plans.
They will be happening on the following dates:
- 1pm until 4pm – Monday, May 11 – Harewood Village Hall
- 4pm until 7pm – Tuesday, May 12 – Alwoodley Community Hall
