EastEnders has confirmed Ravi Gulati’s departure from Albert Square after he was sectioned in distressing scenes.

Earlier this week on the BBC soap, troubled Ravi (Aaron Thiara) tried to keep his family trapped in their flat, believing he needed to shield them from the outside world. But as tensions escalated, Ravi confessed to his son Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) that he had assaulted him several months earlier.

As Nugget and his sister Avani (Aaliyah James) grew frightened of their unpredictable father, Priya (Sophie Khan Levy) suggested to her partner that they should leave Walford for their safety, though this was merely a ruse to get Ravi into a car and transport him to the hospital for treatment.

Ravi cottoned on that he was being deceived, and matters worsened when Nugget had a seizure while seated in the back of the vehicle.

Priya panicked as she attempted to assist her boy, but she lost control of the car, resulting in a massive collision with another vehicle carrying Max (Jake Wood), Cindy (Michelle Collins), and baby Jimmy, reports OK!.

On Thursday (April 23), the crash’s consequences played out with a revelation: Ravi courageously rescued his family from the car and summoned help. However, the scene was a product of his imagination, and in actuality, he remained paralysed, still seated in the car’s front seat.

Priya managed to leap into action and extract herself and her two children from the vehicle, but Ravi declined to budge. Meanwhile, Max and Cindy found themselves trapped in the car. Although Max managed to escape and rescue Jimmy, Cindy remained trapped inside as smoke billowed from the vehicle.

As the car ignited, Max pleaded with Ravi to assist Cindy, but Ravi declined. In a courageous act, Max finally succeeded in freeing Cindy just as the car burst into flames.

At the hospital, Nugget told his father he wished he would vanish, before Max labelled Ravi a coward. This provoked Ravi to leave the hospital, and he returned to Albert Square in a state of shock, tears streaming down his face.

As he meandered past The Albert, he abruptly halted to shatter the glass on the pharmacy door, where he had previously taken Nugget hostage. Shortly afterwards, Ravi positioned himself perilously on the bridge as a crowd began to assemble.

Priya frantically attempted to reason with Ravi, who responded: “All paths. All options. It’s too much. I wreck things. I’ve realised now, it’s me. I’m doing it to everyone.”

He was on the brink of ending his own life when Nugget appeared on the bridge and pleaded with his dad to return home, which he did. The police swiftly arrived and sectioned Ravi due to concerns for his well-being, while he implored Priya to help him.
