Emmerdale has shared a major update on Victoria Sugden, just months after she left the village, and it's bad news
Emmerdale has revealed an update on soap stalwart Victoria Sugden, just months after her departure — and it’s far from welcome news for devoted fans.
Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) first appeared on the ITV series back in 2006, and throughout her time on the show, the character has been at the centre of numerous landmark soap moments.
Earlier this year, however, Victoria departed the village to begin a fresh chapter in Portugal with her son, Harry, following a dramatic storyline in which she accidentally killed her brother, John (Oliver Farnworth).
In the wake of the incident, she concealed the crime with assistance from her brother, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), and Robert’s partner, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Inevitably, they were eventually exposed by the villainous Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who possessed video footage of Victoria killing John, staging it as a suicide, before fleeing the scene, reports the Daily Star.

Joe proceeded to blackmail Victoria and forced the Sugdens to surrender their farmland, while simultaneously manipulating Robert into framing Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) in order to seize her property as well.
The pressure of Moira being framed and John’s death, combined with her young son Harry’s questions about him, ultimately proved too much for Victoria to bear.
Consequently, she bid farewell to the village in February 2026 and departed the Dales. This storyline was crafted to accommodate actress Isabel Hodgins taking maternity leave, with her final scenes broadcasting on February 12.
However, this week the soap delivered a significant update on Victoria’s situation — and it makes for disappointing reading for devoted fans. During Thursday’s episode (April 9), Robert was shown speaking to Victoria on the phone.

When Aaron enquired how she was getting on, Robert responded: ” Doing a good job pretending everything’s all right between us if that’s what you’re asking.”
Aaron offered: “She’ll come round eventually.” Yet in what will prove a blow to fans, Robert disclosed: “Well, she sure as hell won’t be coming back here anytime soon, that’s for sure.”
Victoria actress Isabel welcomed a baby girl, Georgie Grace Whitehead, into the world in February, whom she shares with her husband, Adam Whitehead.
Taking to Instagram, she posted a heartwarming reel confirming that Georgie arrived on February 11, weighing 8lbs 5 ounces, simply captioning the post: “And then we heard you.”
Adam was swift to respond to the touching post, noting that the new arrival had made her entrance on his birthday. He wrote: “The best birthday present I could ever imagine,” adding a pink heart emoji to his comment.
