‘One blunder after another’: Pauline Hanson reacts to Albanese’s national address

Pauline Hanson Warns of Fuel Crisis and Government Failures
One Nation representative Pauline Hanson has raised serious concerns about Australia’s fuel security and criticized the government’s handling of the situation.
Speaking in response to the Prime Minister’s recent message to the nation, Hanson suggested the address was more about calming public fears than addressing the real issues.
“The Prime Minister appears very concerned about poll numbers and public approval,” she said. “This message seems designed to reassure people that everything is fine — but the question is, where are we really heading?”
Hanson pointed to alarming figures, claiming Australia has only around 31 days of fuel reserves, including jet fuel, petrol, and diesel. She compared this to countries like Japan and South Korea, which maintain significantly larger stockpiles and are already considering rationing measures.
👉 “When you look at those numbers, it’s clear something is wrong,” she warned.
Agriculture and Rural Impact
Hanson emphasized that the situation is already affecting rural communities and farmers. After visiting agricultural areas, she said uncertainty over fuel supply is creating serious risks for crop production.
👉 “Farmers don’t even know if they’ll have enough fuel to harvest what they plant today,” she said.
👉 “And fertilizers are becoming one of the biggest challenges.”
She accused the government of downplaying the crisis, insisting that Australians are not being told the full truth.
Policy Criticism and Fuel Security
Hanson highlighted past policy failures, including decisions affecting fuel imports and refinery closures. She reiterated that her party had previously pushed for fuel tax cuts and stronger measures to secure supply chains.
She also revealed discussions with Barnaby Joyce about guaranteeing shipping companies financial protection to ensure fuel deliveries to Australia.
👉 “We must ensure essential services — police, ambulances, hospitals — always have access to fuel,” she stressed.
Energy Debate and Government Dependence
Hanson criticized the government’s reliance on support from environmental parties, arguing that restrictions on gas exploration are worsening the situation.
👉 “We cannot run a country on wind and solar alone — it’s simply not possible,” she said.
She pointed out that gas exploration is banned in some regions, such as Victoria, limiting domestic energy production.
Decline of Refineries and Missed Opportunities
Hanson also raised concerns about Australia’s declining refining capacity. Where the country once had eight oil refineries, only two remain today.
👉 “We’re now paying billions to foreign companies to refine our fuel overseas,” she said.
She referenced the Northern Endeavour oil field, claiming it could still produce millions of barrels of oil if properly utilized, and criticized past governments for failing to act.
Call for Self-Sufficiency
Ultimately, Hanson called for Australia to take control of its energy future by increasing domestic production and reducing reliance on foreign supply.
👉 “We need to solve this problem, take control, and extract our own resources,” she concluded.
👉 “Australia must achieve self-sufficiency in oil and gas.”
