Emmerdale to change forever as decades-long era comes to an end
It was a big day for Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, as they moved into their new homes.
A few days ago, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) sold her shares in Butler’s Farm to Kim Tate (Claire King). The house couldn’t stay empty for very long, though due to the fact that someone needed to look after the animals, and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) knew just the person to give the tenancy to.
Robert and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) are now the new residents of Butler’s. The development was difficult for both of them to get their heads around, as it just looked like they were betraying the Dingles.
But with Robert wanting to continue the Sugden farming legacy and Aaron keen to support his boyfriend, they’ve packed up Mill Cottage flat and in this evening’s instalment, moving day had arrived.
It also meant it was Cain’s final morning in Butler’s with Kyle and Isaac (Huey Quinn and Bobby Dunsmuir). Robert had rocked up quite early, which annoyed Cain, but he took pleasure in revealing to Robert that he’d be taking part in the door frame with him, as it had Kyle and Isaac’s height progress etched on.
Nice.
As Aaron and Robert began unpacking their things, Cain, Isaac and Kyle had arrived at Wishing Well.
It was incredibly cramped, but Sam, Belle and Lydia Dingle (James Hooton, Eden Taylor-Draper and Karen Blick) were more than happy to make it work for now.
The dynamic at Wishing Well was already irritating Cain, as he struggled with the fact Lydia and Sam were both ready to look after him. He really does need all the help he can get right now, but Cain just won’t actually admit this.
Back at Butler’s, Aaron had a surprise for Robert. He had managed to move the old Emmerdale Farm sign from what used to be the Sugden farmland onto their new home. Robert was incredibly touched – it really was the start of a new era for him.
Outside the Dingle home though, things were quite different. Sam had botched together a sign for their new Dingle Farm, painting the name in black on the board.
It didn’t look as nice as the Emmerdale Farm stone, but it was perhaps a way to represent that the Dingles will build this farm from the ground up. Unlike Robert and Aaron, they don’t have barns and animals, all they have is some land and a dream to create a lasting legacy of their own.
But if anyone is going to succeed at this, it’s going to be the Dingles.
