Emmerdale ‘lets slip’ crucial detail in Tracy scene that will ‘expose John’

There may have been a hint on Emmerdale on Monday night that John Sugden will trip up over his own lies.

The secret k.i.l.l.e.r who has been involved in several dark incidents managed to frame someone for the d.e.a.t.h of Nate Robinson in the latest episode of the ITV soap. He k.i.l.l.e.d Nate in September before burying his body in the lake.

When Nate was found a matter of weeks ago, villagers were left reeling before questions were raised as to who k.i.l.l.e.d him and why. After all, it emerged someone had been covering their tracks and pretending Nate was still alive.

From using his phone to message his wife Tracy Robinson to appearing to collect his belongings, John had everyone believe Nate had ditched his family and was moving on elsewhere. Tracy knew someone was trying to frame her, especially as Nate’s phone, the one in use after his d.e.a.t.h, was found in her and Nate’s daughter Frankie’s dollhouse at their home.

On Friday we saw John head to the house of patient Owen, the man who had drugged Robert Sugden just weeks before. John found him lifeless after an apparent overdose, and instead of calling for help he let him d.i.e.

Before fleeing the scene he wrote a suicide note on Owen’s laptop which was a confession to Nate’s m.u.r.d.e.r. We learned the full extent of this note during Monday’s visit to the Dales.

Cain Dingle was at daughter-in-law Tracy’s house just as a detective showed up with news about Owen. She confirmed Owen was d.e.a.d with them believing he had taken his own life, leaving his confession before taking an overdose.

In the note it detailed what happened to Nate and why Owen supposedly k.i.l.l.e.d him, while of course this was all John’s doing. It went into so much detail with John covering every part of the case to ensure he would not be found out.

Owen’s note suggested they had a heated row at the roadside, a chance encounter that led to Owen accidentally k.i.l.l.i.n.g Nate. It claimed in a panic, he dumped the body in the lake with the detective revealing the note contained backed information about how Nate d.i.e.d and how he was found.

The note also claimed Owen had deliberately framed Tracy by putting the phone in her home, while the note claimed he’d kept it back after the m.u.r.d.e.r and then had used it to contact the family. The note saw Owen give details about what had happened to Nate’s missing vehicle leading to the police finding it burnt out.

There was something Tracy said though that could hint at John’s lies unravelling. Could he have done a little too much to pin this on Owen, and might one of the details catch him out – especially seeing as Owen has an alibi?

What comes of that remains to be seen, but Tracy was heard questioning a piece of information that Owen had apparently shared. This complete stranger they’d never heard of randomly ki.l.l.e.d Nate, and then decided to frame Tracy for no reason – according to the police.

So Tracy asked how Owen would even have known where she lived to put the phone in the playhouse. The officer downplayed this hugely, claiming Owen lived nearby and by having Nate’s phone, he would have had access to everything including Tracy’s address.

This didn’t sit right with her though and she has a valid point. How would this stranger who apparently k.i.l.l.e.d a man he didn’t know in a chance encounter get away with so much, be so guilt-stricken that he ended up “taking his own life” yet he was willing to frame someone else?

Also there’s no saying he would simply have found the address on Nate’s phone, so will details like this that John knows and has added to the note, also including the car location and all about the m.u.r.d.e.r, end up tripping John up? Will it be these new answers that end up leading to John being rumbled given only the k.i.l.l.e.r would know them?
