Emmerdale d.e.a.t.h ‘sealed’ for Cain Dingle after more than two decades

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle could be facing a devastating exit from the soap as he battles cancer.
Cain (Jeff Hordley) has been a cornerstone of the long-running series for 26 years, first appearing on screen in 2000. As the village’s resident troublemaker and charmer, Cain has cemented himself as a much-loved character amongst viewers over the decades.
He has also been central to numerous major plotlines throughout his time on the show. From his romance with cousin Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to his affair and subsequent relationship with Moira (Natalie J.Robb), life in the Dales has never been uneventful for the controversial character.
Particularly so at present, as Cain recently discovered he had aggressive yet localised prostate cancer, following a shooting during the highly anticipated Corriedale crossover episode in January, reports the Daily Star.

Upon receiving his diagnosis, Cain confided only in his granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and his friend and local GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
Alongside his cancer battle, Cain has also been grappling with wife Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) wrongful imprisonment. With his prostate surgery scheduled for next month, Cain finally broke the news to Moira about his condition this week.
Nevertheless, viewers are increasingly concerned that Cain may ultimately be written out of the show following his cancer storyline. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one distraught viewer wrote: “Anyone else think Cain is going to d.i.e?” Another responded: “Yeah you never know what will happen, I really hope not”. A third chimed in: “Noooo not Cain.”

Meanwhile, speaking about the plotline, Jeff previously told the Mirror: “Prostate cancer can have such an enormous effect on both the person diagnosed and their family.”
“I feel fortunate because my family has not been affected by the disease and thankfully a health check I had a few years ago, which included my prostate, was fine.
“But filming this storyline has made me realise how sobering the disease can be and how it affects so many. It’s so important if you are in a higher risk category to get tested. As soon as I have my next day off, I am going to be making an appointment with my GP to have a PSA test.”
