Jasmine Fisher has coughed up to k.i.l.l.i.n.g her dad, Anthony Trueman, just in time for the return of two major EastEnders characters. In scenes airing tonight (16 February), Jasmine confessed to her grandmother Kat Slater after the older woman convinced her to return to the Square.

After Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) suggested that Jasmine (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) might have k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony (Nicholas Bailey), it became Kat’s (Jessie Wallace) mission to track her granddaughter down. Finding her in cafe, Kat convinced Jasmine to return to the Square for Anthony’s funeral. Once there, she confronted Jasmine about k.i.l.l.i.n.g Anthony, promising to help frame Chrissie.

Jasmine tearfully admitted that she did k.i.l.l her father, and the episode ended before she could reveal that it had been self-defence. Weeks ago, it had been revealed to viewers that Jasmine clobbered Anthony over the head after he attacked her mum, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) and then tried to attack her.

Fans had been hoping the truth would come out soon, with one saying: “I’m just happy about the ending because finally Jasmine admitted she k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony.”

Another added that they hoped Jasmine’s grandfather, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) would be understanding about it. They said: “I hope Patrick understands jasmines motives since she has proof it was out of self defence.”

Jasmine’s confession comes just after two huge characters returned to the soap. Big Mo Harris (Laila Morse), Jasmine’s great-great-grandmother, came back after months away. She was last seen on the Square in October before going to stay with her granddaughter Lynne.

Big Mo has missed out on huge changes in the Slater family – including the departures of Freddie (Bobby Brazier) and Jean (Gillian Wright), the return of Jake Moon (Joel Beckett) after 20 years away, and the discovery that Jasmine is a secret Slater.

She shared a touching scene with Jake in tonight’s episode. During the scene, Big Mo grilled him on why he was still hanging around with Chrissie and said he could stay with the Slaters and be an “uncle to Alfie’s boys”, referencing Jake’s cousin Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), who shares children with Kat.

Another returning character is Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson), who has been gone for two months. His return to the Square was met with disappointment, as when he walked into the Trueman house to pay his respects to Anthony, Patrick had been hoping it was Jasmine or one of Anthony’s other children.

Howie has not been around for months as he was shamed by the family and dumped by his fiancee, Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) after he blackmailed Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) over attacking Patrick.

Despite the Trueman family’s disappointment at seeing him, Kim was seen smiling when she saw Howie – could a reunion be on the cards for the pair?
