House of Payne: Laura’s Evil Temper Pushes Calvin Further Away — Has He Finally Had Enough?

“I just don’t want this drama in my house. We all need to be civil. That’s who we are,” Calvin said.

But Laura wasn’t having it. Her response? “Calvin, I will be civil always… as long as her stank ass ain’t up in here. Now I’m done talking about this.”

And with that, yet again, Laura showed the side of herself that more and more fans — and apparently Calvin — are growing tired of: her evil temper.

What used to come out in quick little bursts has now become her default mode. You could argue she’s always been like this, just better at hiding it before. But now? She’s too through.

The most telling moment in this week’s episode came in the condo, after Christian had been sent home with Miranda. Calvin tried, calmly and rationally, to explain that for Christian’s sake, everyone needed to be civil. He wasn’t angry, he wasn’t yelling — just making the case for co-parenting and keeping the peace.

And Laura? She didn’t want to hear it.

She wasn’t interested in a discussion. She wasn’t interested in compromise. All she wanted was to make her point simple and clear: Miranda is not welcome here. Period.

And when Calvin, once again, didn’t bend to her will, she did what she always does — raised her voice, stood up, and stormed out.

The pattern is clear. It’s the same thing she did when talking to Ella and Curtis. Everything starts calm, then Laura blows up, then she storms off like the victim.

But here’s what’s different: this time, Calvin didn’t chase her. He didn’t beg her to calm down. He didn’t even try to smooth things over. He just stayed put, quietly choosing to sleep on the couch rather than share a bed with her.

And the big difference? He wasn’t sent there — he chose it himself.

That small but powerful choice says a lot. Calvin’s had glimpses of this temper before, but now he’s seeing what everyone else already sees: this is who Laura is. And it’s not going away.

If they can’t even have a simple conversation without her blowing up, how are they supposed to survive marriage? If Laura can’t handle even minor tension without becoming combative, what happens when something bigger comes along?

It feels like Calvin is finally waking up. The way Laura came out later, trying to act calm and asking, “Calvin, are you coming to bed?” — as if nothing happened — only made it clearer how toxic this dynamic has become.

She blows up, storms out, then plays the victim when Calvin stops reacting. But Calvin seems done.

So here’s the question: will Laura’s temper finally push Calvin away for good? Or will he keep trying to make it work with someone who shows no signs of changing?
