Radio 2 legend Scott Mills reveals EastEnders cameo as fans make huge demand
BBC Radio 2 star Scott Mills made a surprise appearance on the New Year's Day episode of EastEnders and fans were amazed at how he had managed to keep his cameo a secret
Scott Mills has revealed his secret EastEnders cameo. The BBC Radio 2 star, 51, made an appearance in the New Year’s edition of the BBC soap as himself, where all the action flashed forward a year to 2027. In the scene in question, Max Branning was listening to Scott’s radio show, and his son Oscar had sent a message in to celebrate his dad’s wedding day.
Scott said: “Time for some messages – Max Branning, good luck on your wedding day. Wow – it says here, fifth time lucky. That is from Oscar, hotter than ever in 2027. I am guessing you wrote that yourself, Oscar! And that one is also from Lauren too.” After the episode aired, Scott took to social media to confirm that it was him in the episode and shared the brief moment his name flashed up on the credits.
He wrote: “I’ve been keeping more secrets than Santa this Christmas LOL,” and his fans were amazed at how he had managed to keep it all to himself. One fan wrote: “A scream was let out! So good,” and another claimed that his secret-keeping skills meant that he would do well on the next version of Celebrity Traitors.
They wrote: “Celebrity Traitors next for you Mr Mills…all these secrets you’ve been keeping you’d be an excellent Traitor!!” and another said: “LOVE this. I was so excited, I even told my cat ‘That’s Scott Mills from Radio 2 on EastEnders!” A fourth added: “I almost fell off the sofa.”
Whilst the episode revealed that Max would indeed be tying the knot yet again, viewers have been left in the dark as to just who his bride is. Seen getting ready and taking a phone call just as Jack Branning called Max’s bride-to-be were Cindy Beale, Linda Carter, Chelsea Fox and even Denise Fox. Denise wasn’t onscreen, but she was missing from the house with some wedding shoes left behind.
But some fans think it won’t be any of these women who are set to wed Max in 2027. Viewers took to social media to guess we were being misled by the soap, and the actual bride was none other than his former flame Zoe Slater.
Zoe was missing from the episode, and given their history, fans predicted she would marry Max. One fan said: “Hold up. Unless Zoe is the bride and the ones shown are the bridesmaids???” Another fan tweeted: “Is he marrying Zoe?” A third added: “I still think Zoe could be the bride.” A further comment read: “We didn’t see Zoe, so could she be the bride?”
It comes as fans think they know who the pregnant woman is in Max’s bed. As he rolled over, there was a woman also waking up, but her identity was covered.
She had a baby bump, though, which she was caressing, and the camera then panned to a baby scan as well as pregnancy supplements. After a recent random scene this week on the BBC soap, fans think it was a major hint at what was ahead.
With so much more to be explained, it hasn’t stopped fans from thinking Chelsea Fox is the pregnant character in Max’s bed. Just days ago, she suggested she found him attractive, so fans think this was the clue that she would be the woman.
Sharing their theories on social media in reply to the preview, fans noticed the woman appeared to sigh. One fan said: “Sounds like Chelsea that does.” Another view agreed: “Sounds like Chelsea,” as a third said: “Honestly, it kinda sounds like Chelsea sighing.” A further comment read: “That’s Chelsea sighing.”
The comments kept on coming, too, with another reading: “Gotta be Chelsea, she’s not been in a big storyline for a while.” One fan said: “Priya or Chelsea definitely involved!”
Another said: “That sounded like Chelsea,” as a fan admitted: “Oh, that sounds like Chelsea!” A final comment said: “That’s got to be Chelsea in bed with Max Branning in 2027.”
