While Kat Slater insists that Chrissie Watts k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony Trueman, EastEnders fans think the real k.i.l.l.e.r may be much closer to home. After the Christmas specials, viewers are more sure than ever that Anthony’s real m.u.r.d.e.r.e.r is Jean Slater.
On Christmas Day, Anthony (Nicholas Bailey) was furious that Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) had kept his children a secret from him and confronted her. When the doctor got violent with Zoe, she pushed him back and he hit his head. Zoe hit hers too and collapsed on the floor, waking later to find Anthony d.e.a.d next to her.
In the following episode, Zoe’s mum, Kat (Jessie Wallace) was convinced that the dastardly Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) must have snuck in to deliver the final blow to Anthony.

This was because Chrissie had just revealed herself as Zoe’s stalker – she had been using Zoe’s long-lost daughter Jasmine (Indeyarna Holness-Donaldson) to torment the woman for months, angry that she had gotten off scott-free after playing a part in the m.u.r.d.e.r of Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) 20 years ago.
But there is another who hates Zoe and may wish to frame her for m.u.r.d.e.r. Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) has spent the months since her cousin returned moaning about her existence and telling anyone who would listen that everything is Zoe’s fault and she should go away. Would she go so far as to frame Zoe for m.u.r.d.e.r in the hopes she’d be put away forever?
One fan certainly thought so. “I’m starting to think Jean k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony. She hates Zoe, she blames her for Stacey’s departure, and she wants her gone,” they said. Referencing Jean’s recent mental health crisis due to her being bipolar, they added: “On top of all that, she’s off her meds…”

Another fan agreed that Chrissie being the k.i.l.l.e.r didn’t make sense. They pointed out: “If Chrissie k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony surely her DNA will be all over him. Even if she wiped everything.”
On Boxing Day, Jasmine and Kat had a conversation in which they both agreed it must be Chrissie that k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony. Jasmine insisted that she would not go to the police as she was scared that Chrissie would come after her, despite her grandmother’s urging. However, a third fan wondered if Jasmine were lying.
“I think Jasmine was lying about Chrissie being the one who k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony,” they said. The fan pointed out that Chrissie wouldn’t have known that Anthony was angry with Zoe and would confront her in the Vic, and added that this also didn’t make sense, as Chrissie had just gotten out of prison.
“They’ve never had scenes together and Chrissie wouldn’t be aware of Anthony’s motivations towards Zoe. Also k.i.l.l.i.n.g Anthony just to frame Zoe puts her even more at risk of going back to prison.”
