Emmerdale MYSTERY: Marlon prepares to pay the fake £20k debt — but fans insist Cain’s return changes EVERYTHING.
Emmerdale fans think they have worked out who will 'take down' evil farming duo Celia and Ray following their reign of terror on the Yorkshire-based ITV soap opera
Emmerdale fans think they have worked out who will take down Celia Daniels and Ray Walters on the ITV soap. Fans of the Yorkshire-based serial have become caught up in the drama of the evil mother-and-son duo, who have spent the last few months running a drugs empire and slavery ring, and Marlon Dingle recently discovered that his daughter April had been dragged into it all.
Celia recently forced them to watch a live stream of Dylan, who was also recruited for the operation, being run over, and the teenager ended up in hospital with life-threatening injuries. On the latest episode of the programme, Marlon, who planned to flee the village before being stopped by Ray, had come to the conclusion that the only way to resolve the situation was to pay the “debt” that April is said to owe, although fans will know that this sum was yet another creation of the twisted pair.
In scenes aired on Tuesday night, Marlon unsuccessfully tried to sell his car to his cousin Cain Dingle, who became very suspicious when he said he wanted cash on the same day for it. Later that day, Ray went around to Marlon’s house to physically threaten him about the situation, and demanded £20,000.
He said: “Until you do get it, April gets back to work. She’s had enough time off. Here’s what I think, I think, you haven’t got a choice. You owe me big time and I want paying. I don’t really care how.”
Just then, Cain walked in on the whole situation, and when he tried to stick up for Marlon, who quickly made up that he owed Ray some money after crashing into the back of his car.
Clearly not believing him, Cain said to Ray in no uncertain terms: “Do one!” and he quickly left the house. Marlon then continued with his story about the car to Cain, but in the end he asked him: “Are you sure that’s all there is to it?”
Ray later caught Marlon outside, and coldly said: “I do not appreciate threats from your inbred family! That quote I gave you is a limited offer. It will go up the longer I have to wait so if I were you, I would pay up and I would pay up now.”
Towards the end of the episode, it looked as though Marlon was all set on paying the debt, but fans flocked to social media to predict that Cain could save the day.
One wrote on X: “Ray is afraid of Cain,” whilst another said: “Great to see Cain back tonight and he’s not believing anything Marlon has said either cmon Cain bring Celia and Ray down”!
A third added: “I’d have more respect for Marlon if he told Cain, that would be a step forward.”
Celia and Ray’s downfall could well be on the cards, especially after actress Jaye Griffiths recently announced she would be leaving the soap after mere months as the villainous farmer. Speaking about her exit, Jaye said: “I knew it was finite, which I am very sad about, because I would like to stay forever, but it’s such a strong arc. It’s heaven, one of the nicest places I’ve ever worked, and I’ve done a little bit of work before!
It is gentle and kind and professional and funny, and people care that it’s good. People care that we tell the story properly. It’s a joy to come to work. I’m gushing now, aren’t I?”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
