Parenthood is at the center of Zatima season 4.
Created by Tyler Perry, Zatima — a spinoff of the BET+ series Sistas — follows Zac (Devale Ellis) and Fatima (Crystal Renee Hayslett), a couple navigating the ups and downs of love and life. Now in its fourth season, which premiered on Sept. 11, fans will see the pair prepare to welcome their first child together — a milestone that resonates with several cast members.
Ellis and his wife, Khadeen Ellis, are parents to four sons. Meanwhile, Jasmin Brown, who plays Deja, is currently expecting her second child with her longtime boyfriend, former NFL star Cam Newton.
The Ellises take parenthood very seriously, often discussing the role on their podcast, Ellis Ever After, and on social media.
“We focused on our boys all summer, and we can see the difference,” Devale wrote on Instagram in August 2025. “Parenthood isn’t a chore, it’s a privilege. We approach it with the reverence and care it deserves.”

Devale Ellis’ 4 Children

Devale and Khadeen wed in July 2010. The couple have since welcomed four sons across the span of a decade: Jackson Karter in 2011, Kairo Shakur in 2016, Kaz Hendrix in 2017 and Dakota Marley in 2021.
Being a parent has changed Devale for the better.
“Fatherhood saved me from myself,” Devale said during an interview with Black Love in June 2024. “They’ve helped me mature as a man because I’ve changed the way I speak, the way I think.”
The actor told the outlet that he sees being a dad as “four new chances at life.”
“I get a chance to see the world through four different perspectives. Five, including my wife, because I include Kay in everything I do in fatherhood, because that’s my life partner,” he continued.
Remington Hoffman’s Daughter

Remington Hoffman and his wife, Ida Barklund Hoffman, wed on March 13, 2020. They welcomed their first child, daughter Una Bay, on June 29, 2022, per Soap Opera Digest.
“I love being a father. It’s so amazing,” the actor told the outlet. “And Ida is the most amazing mother. Watching a woman go through birth, you gain so much … respect isn’t even a deep enough word to use when you watch a woman go through that process. It’s truly beautiful.”
Guyviaud Joseph’s Daughter

Their daughter was born 10 weeks early at only 2 lbs., 8oz., and spent nearly two months in the NICU. In celebration of her 1st birthday, Ife shared on Instagram that Zoe is a “sweet, curious, resilient, stubborn, smart, music-loving nature girl.”
Zoe even attended Guyviaud and Ife’s March 2025 wedding in Grenada. On Instagram, Guyviaud wrote that he was “excited to start this next chapter together as the Joseph family.”
Jasmin Brown’s Daughter and Baby on the Way

Brown and Newton — who have been together since 2022 — welcomed their first child, a daughter, in February 2024.
“I never knew a love like this existed anywhere. I can go on and on about the love I have for YOU but baby the way YOU LOVE ME is like nothing I could ever imagine,” the actress wrote on Instagram in celebration of her daughter’s 1st birthday.
“You are EVERYTHING to me. I cannot believe you’re mine,” Brown continued.
On Mother’s Day 2025, Brown announced that she is currently expecting her second child with Newton. The former NFL star is also a dad to seven other children from previous relationships.
Danielle LaRoach’s Son
