ITV Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle set for showdown as familar face returns after five years
Emmerdale is reportedly bringing back a familiar face to the village as Nate Robinson's mum Cara Robinson returns to say a heartbreaking goodbye to her son at his funeral
Emmerdale is set to welcome back a familiar face, and it spells trouble for Cain Dingle.
After a five-year absence, actress Carryl Thomas is rumoured to be returning as Nate Robinson’s (Jurrell Carter) mother, Cara Robinson.
She’s coming back to the village to bid a tearful farewell to her son at his funeral and immediately becomes embroiled in the ongoing drama.
An insider revealed to The Sun: “She’s going to have a few choice words for her ex Cain as she tries to understand what really happened to Nate.
“Carryl jumped at the chance to reprise her role after five years to do justice to the storyline.”, reports Leicestershire Live.
Suspicion has fallen on Nate’s wife Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh), with the Dingles believing her odd behaviour post-disappearance indicates her guilt in his demise.
Tracy had taken out a credit card in Nate’s name, seemed to give up searching for him, and was the sole person dealing with the removal men who cleared out his possessions.
Yet, she’s convinced that Cain (Jeff Hordley) is the real culprit, having savagely attacked his son just a day before he vanished.
In recent episodes, Belle overheard Tracy arranging Nate’s funeral and took the chance to question if she would allow Cain to attend.
Despite Tracy’s firm stance that Cain remains unwelcome, Belle decided to try and persuade her otherwise.
Belle attempted to convince Tracy that the truth about Nate’s fate remains unknown, but Tracy interpreted this as an accusation of m.u.r.d.e.r and resolved to exclude the entire Dingle family from attending.
Cain was deeply affected by this decision. The next day, Belle persuaded Tracy’s sister, Vanessa Woodfield (played by Michelle Hardwick), to try and convince Tracy to reconsider her stance on barring the Dingles.
However, when a distraught Tracy told Vanessa that Nate’s funeral was her final opportunity to make amends for failing him in life, Vanessa found herself unable to ask her sister to change her mind.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
